Sustainability & Design
Building a community that respects its setting and the future.
Environmental Features
Capital Park incorporated a range of sustainable design strategies appropriate to a dense urban mixed-use project:
- ✓ Green roofs and extensive landscaping with native plants
- ✓ Electric vehicle charging provisions in the parkade
- ✓ Low-VOC materials in suites and common areas
- ✓ Energy-efficient building systems and solar shading
- ✓ Holistic approaches to heating and cooling between uses
- ✓ Pedestrian-first public realm reducing car dependence
Heritage Conservation
Five existing heritage homes on the site were carefully relocated — three within the project and two off-site — and restored. Several were converted into residential suites, preserving neighbourhood character while enabling the new development.
Social Sustainability
By integrating office, retail, library, market and housing, Capital Park supports a complete community where people can live, work and access daily needs without long car trips. Public plazas and pathways invite the broader neighbourhood to share the outdoor spaces.
